Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt FRGS FRAS is a globally respected tourism and hospitality management expert with a distinguished career spanning over 50 years. At EIIET, he brings a wealth of experience, a deep global perspective, and a strong commitment to academic excellence. He holds a master's in Sinology, Sociology, and Political Science and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin. Over the years, he has taught international tourism management at various universities in Germany and held visiting professorships in countries such as China, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Outside academia, Prof. Arlt has also worked closely with governments, tourism organizations, and global hotel brands like IHG, Disney, and Hilton, offering expert advice and guidance.
Prof. Arlt is widely recognized as a leading authority in Chinese outbound tourism. His comprehensive knowledge of international travel trends and cross-cultural dynamics has significantly influenced worldwide tourism policies and business strategies. He is also the originator of the "Meaningful Tourism" concept—an innovative framework that emphasizes creating value for travellers, host communities, and the environment. At EIIET, he remains dedicated to fostering creative thinking, integrating sustainability into the institution's core principles, and guiding its long-term development. His international expertise and practical experience greatly enhance the academic environment, preparing both students and the institution to excel in a rapidly evolving global tourism industry.
