Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt is an internationally renowned authority in the fields of tourism and hospitality management, with an illustrious career spanning over five decades. As Dean of EIIET, he brings an unparalleled depth of experience, global insight, and academic excellence to the institute’s tourism and hospitality management programs.
Prof. Arlt holds an M.A. in Sinology, Sociology, and Political Science, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the prestigious Freie Universität Berlin. His academic journey has seen him serve as a Professor of International Tourism Management at several German universities and as a Visiting Professor at esteemed institutions across China, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. Beyond academia, he has made significant contributions as a consultant and advisor to government bodies, industry leaders, and global hotel brands such as InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), Disney, and Hilton.
Recognized as a leading expert in Chinese outbound tourism, Prof. Arlt’s insights into cross-cultural strategies, tourism development, and sustainable tourism practices have shaped policies and business strategies worldwide. He is also the visionary behind the Meaningful Tourism concept—a forward-thinking paradigm that advocates for tourism to be mutually beneficial for visitors, hosts, and the environment.
