December 15, 2023Student Accommodation in Berlin
Student life is beautiful in many ways, but one of the biggest problems students face is finding suitable and affordable accommodation. At the same time, student accommodation in Berlin is a difficult task for every student compared to other states. Berlin has different options for accommodation, but all the students have to be more careful when renting out a room or apartment because many scams are continuously reported daily. Students new to Berlin should ask for advice from anyone who has lived in Berlin for over two years, or we have the EIIET's Student Support Team to assist the students. We can guide you in making a proper decision or advise you on selecting the accommodation. This page informs you about the famous student accommodations available in Berlin.
The best option for students
One of the famous and best choices for a student is the Student Housing Centre, which is available only for students. Here, you can find various space options, like a studio room with an attached kitchen and bathroom, a single room with a shared bathroom and kitchen (shared chiefly with 4-6 students), or a double room shared with another student. In this option, you must share the bathroom and kitchen with more than ten students. This double-shared room can be considered the cheapest one in student apartments. Here, you can fully experience student hostel life and meet several students from different parts of the world. It will be an excellent opportunity to make friends and thoroughly explore student life.
Prices you must know
- Studio room (with attached bathroom and kitchen): Rent €750 and Deposit €1500
- Single Room (shared bathroom and kitchen): Rent €300 and Deposit €500
- Double Room with two-bed spaces (shared bathroom and kitchen): Rent €250 and Deposit €500 for each person.
If you are interested in living in a different environment, you will have other options:
Rooms shared in an apartment: The first and cheapest option is a shared room. Here, you will live in an apartment with two or three rooms, each with two or more people, according to the space. The apartment will have one kitchen and one bathroom, or two bathrooms. If you wish to stay with your friend, this will be the best choice. Sometimes, the students face some issues. They will get an older and working roommate, and students will take time to adjust to a strange person. If you are a person who likes to get to know new people and make new friends, then it suits you. The rent will start at €300 and will sometimes be €450. The deposit will be the two months' rent you must pay before moving in.
Single Rooms: This option can be expensive because Berlin is very expensive for single rooms, and it isn't easy to find a single room. If you wish to spend more time alone and like your privacy more, this is a suitable option for you. Here, you will have your room in the apartment, and one kitchen and bathroom will be shared with the roommates. This single room will cost €500 to €600; the deposit will be two months' rent.
Studio Apartment: Studio apartments contain one common space with an attached bathroom and kitchen. It will be private and suitable for only one or two people. You can get these kinds of apartments fully furnished or not furnished. This is the most expensive option, costing approximately €1000 to €1500 in monthly rent.
Short - term Housing during your beginning days
Upon arriving in Berlin, if you cannot move into your housing, you can find temporary accommodation until you find the right place. Some attractive accommodation options for international students are:
- Affordable hotels or cheap student hostels.
- Private room in an apartment.
- Rooms are available for one day.
Beware of Fraud Activities
Berlin is a place filled with different people from all over the world. Some people mainly focus on the accommodation field to do their fraud work, primarily affecting students new to town. They are unaware of this kind of fraud activity in Berlin. These things mostly happen through online media; they will post fake pictures online and scam the students by asking for payments, and they will also ask for your details. Students are getting scammed by these people very often, and they lose their money, too. So be aware of these things and think twice before doing anything if you don't want to lose your money.
