Berlin has an extended and well-organised public transport network, including buses, trams, and underground light trains. Whether you're looking to explore the city or the nearby districts, you can get there quickly, comfortably, and safely by using public transportation.
Public Transport
- U-Bahn: Its regulation, network connection, and well-organised routes make the Berliner U-Bahn one of the best ways to explore and travel the city. It operates every 10 minutes from 4 a.m. to 1 a.m. on weekdays and 24 hours on weekends, and it is the best solution for the public to travel to almost any corner of the city.
- S-Bahn: There are better choices than the U-Bahn; it has the same operating hours and is convenient for those who want to travel longer distances or near districts.
- Buses and trams: Berlin’s bus service can get you to any part of the city, and it is the best option to travel at night because there will be no train services. Trams are not available everywhere in the cities but are available in the famous parts of the city.
- Bicycle: Berlin is often the cheapest place to ride a bike, the most friendly and fastest form of transportation in the city, and one of the recommended choices for young Berliners. The city has a wide-ranging cycling path and several bike or e-bike-sharing options. In the specially marked U-Bahn and S-Bahn carriages, you can carry your e-bike or bike.
- Ridesharing, or taxis: It is popular due to its affordable price and environmental impact, with several ridesharing apps like CleverShuttle and BerlKoenig at your disposal. We can also use apps like Uber and Bolt for cheaper travel than ordinary taxis.
- Car sharing: Car-sharing apps like Miles, ShareNow, and Weshare allow you to rent a car from anywhere within the city limits, and the distance driven will be charged if you have a valid licence.
