Prof. Dr. Balachandra Pattanaik is an engineer and mathematician with expertise in applied statistics, machine learning, IoT security, and intelligent embedded systems. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering (Automotive Embedded Systems) and a PhD in Mathematics, and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in Smart Systems Engineering. He also holds master's degrees in engineering and mathematics, and an MBA.

Prof. Dr. Balachandra Pattanaik has more than 18 years of university teaching experience in computer science, applied statistics, network security, and applied mathematics, and has served as Professor, Associate Vice Dean, Vice Principal, and Head of Department. He has supervised more than 70 bachelor's, master's, and doctoral theses, has written more than 18 textbooks and monographs, and publishes in peer-reviewed journals. He is an inventor on patents, utility models, and registered designs in several countries, and brings more than 11 years of industry experience in ICT, electrical systems, and embedded-systems R&D. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, teaches in English, and is learning German. At EIIET, he brings this mix of academic and industry experience to his students.
